Is remote work anywhere a dream? Or can it be turned into a reality? What are the barriers to doing so and the opportunities for companies that get this right?
Welcome to the remote work from anywhere series. This is a series featuring some of the leading people around the world in remote work, global mobility and work from anywhere compliance (remote work tax, employment law, etc.)
When we launched our work from anywhere survey a few months ago, one of the biggest surprises was that kids education was the 2nd biggest pain point, behind tax, for people considering working remotely abroad.
John has 3 kids under 5 and is experiencing exactly this pain point, with many great destinations for digital nomads being unattractive to digital nomad families due to weak childcare or other supports, this is especially so if you are travelling for less than 3 months.
For digital nomad parents with older kids, the options can become even more complicated, unless you’re availing of home-schooling or other similar solutions.
That was the inspiration behind this week’s episode moderated by John Lee of The Work From Anywhere Team and we were delighted to be joined by Christopher Thompson, co-founder of The Bridge at Green School Bali and leadership board member of Women’s Earth Alliance, Kate Shifman, founder of The Family Workation which offers coworking retreats & summer camps for digital nomad families in Portugal and Andreas Wil Gerdes, a successful entrepreneur, Kairos mentor and hugely experienced digital nomad who has lived all over the world with his family.
