We are delighted to be bringing you our latest episode in the Work From Anywhere series, this time in conjunction with the team at Talent Mobility Search, to dig deeper with our guests into the future of global mobility in a work from anywhere world.

This was the inspiration behind this week’s episode moderated by John Lee of The Work From Anywhere Team and co-hosted by (2:30) Simon Rogers from Talent Mobility Search and we were delighted to be joined by (3:20) Luci Davis, Head of Reward & Global Mobility at Symphony as well as (4:45) Vincent Hennequin, EMEA Business Director of Elements GS and recognised as one of the Top 100 Most Admired Global Mobility Leaders in the world.

The conundrum of Work From Anywhere…balancing compliance with value proposition and the war for talent retention. (7:00) Talent Mobility – the increasing demands from new candidates…they just won’t apply for a role unless there is flexibility.

(8:30) A 2 week Work From Anywhere policy in practice…the restrictions of a highly regulated financial services sector. Requests from employees looking to spend longer times on holidays in their origin countries looked at on an individual case by case basis. Extended vacations thus far. Expected increase in requests next year when Covid restrictions end. (12:30) Companies trying to make this work. The challenges of communicating to the different stakeholders.

(15:15) Compliance the number one risk keeping global mobility heads up at night, including Permanent Establishment. No one size fits all solution. Need to tailor to each company to provide peace of mind. (17:30) The impact of WFA on the climate. The trade-offs of reducing commutes versus increased business travel. Social mobility and the diversity & inclusion impact.

(22:45) The isolation impact of WFH and risk of burnout. The challenges of training new staff. (26:40) Home office set up…where does the accountability sit when people request to work remotely? The impact of some returning to the office and those that don’t feeling even more isolated. People struggling with boundary setting, managing the work life balance. (30:30) Hubspot offering 90 days Work From Anywhere…will this become more common? The merging of Global Mobility and Business Travel. The perfect moment for Global Mobility to have a huge impact. Technology will have the biggest part to play in managing the additional admin workload.

(37:50) The stakeholders driving the implementation of Work From Anywhere…Exec leadership, HR, Finance. Work From Anywhere creating the space to allow people to start a side hustle. (41:00) If you could work anywhere in the world, where would it be? The wine regions of Central Otago, New Zealand. The ability to work from anywhere. The draw of city life! The changing profile and skills required of managers and leadership in managing remotely.
